In the
season finale, Sandie is joined by notorious "troublemaker," Simon
Tam, the frontman of The Slants. Over the span of almost a decade,
the band fought to keep their name with the U.S. Trademark Office
and finally won a historic freedom of speech case with the Supreme
Court in 2017. Think trademark law doesn't apply to you? Think
again! Simon not only discusses this case, but also what it was
like to grow up in Southern California, bullying, grief, and his
newly released memoir, Slanted.
At the
end of this episode, there is also a sneak preview of their
Broadway show in development! Enjoy.
